"It was JUST a dog." I hate that phrase. It infers that a pet is of no real importance. Unfortunately, I have heard this phrase uttered too many times by those who do not understand that for many people the death of a beloved pet is like losing a member of your family. Mourning the death of your pet is not only natural, but healthy. When my dog passed away, I needed to do something special that would celebrate her life and show just how much she meant to me...so that's just what I did.
